Question:

What can I expect from a laser hair removal treatment?

Asked-By: Danielle Mallon
Answer:

Most patients experience a very mild stinging, burning sensation when the laser pulse is delivered. To reduce discomfort, a cooling system automatically removes heat from the surface of your skin before, during, and after the laser exposure. You will not need a general anesthesia or pain medication, but a topical anesthetic cream may be applied to sensitive areas if necessary.

Question:

What can I expect after laser hair removal treatment?

Asked-By: Vicki Krause
Answer:

It is common to experience some temporary flaking or scaling, redness and dryness of the skin. However, these conditions will disappear as the skin adjusts to treatment. Remember, protecting your skin from the sun is also important following these peels. Your new skin will be apparent and you should be healed sufficiently to return to your normal activities. It is best to avoid sun exposure unless you are adequately protected.

Question:

How often should I receive laser hair removal treatments?

Asked-By: Cheryl Smith
Answer:

The number of treatments required to obtain optimal results varies with hair density, hair color, skin types, the area being treated, and your hair growth cycle. The density of your hair and its growth cycle are affected by many things such as your age, ethnic background, hormones, and medications. Laser treatments impair the growth capacity of hair follicles when they are in a growth cycle at the time of treatment. All hair follicles are not active at the same time. Depending upon the growth cycle of the follicles when the treatment is applied, several treatments with a few weeks in between may be required to obtain the desired effect.

Question:

What can I expect from a skin peel treatment?

Asked-By: Diane McQueen
Answer:

While improvements may be very subtle at first, a fresher and improved skin texture will result. With continued treatments, you will notice a general improvement in the texture of your skin, improvement in the skin's surface, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, fewer blemishes and more even-toned skin.

Question:

What should I expect after laser hair removal treatment?

Asked-By: Lillian Verkerke
Answer:

Once the treatment is complete, the area exposed to the laser is cleansed and you are free to return to your normal routine. Some patients may experience a slight reddening around hair follicles following the treatment, which typically disappears within a few minutes. It is always recommended to avoid sun exposure or to use sunscreen following the laser treatment. Hair follicles affected by the laser are lifeless and your body will attempt to cast them off over a period of time. It will seem that the hair continues to grow for one to two weeks after the procedure, but in fact these lifeless hairs will easily fall out.
